A few of Airdrie's resident "yarnbombers" struck overnight, adding their colourful creations to trees along Main Street by the Old Hotel site and City Hall - all in support of ARTember.

Wikipedia defines yarnbombing this way - "Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarnstorming, guerrilla knitting, or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted cloth rather than paint or chalk." These temporary installations are sometimes done as political statements, or, as it would appear in this case, just for fun. Yarnbombers typically prefer to remain anonymous, letting their art do the talking.

Even the bike rack in front of City Hall is looking a bit more "arty" this morning.
