Voters in the Town of Crossfield go to the polls today (May 10) to elect two new councillors from three who have let their names stand.

Monday's byelection is to fill the council seats left vacant by the unfortunate death of Devin Helfrich in January and the resignation for personal health reasons of Deputy Mayor Glenn Price in March.

The three names that are on the ballot are Joanne Cornelssen, Jean Gauthier, and Mike Knight.

It will be the second of three times Crossfield residents will vote in the span of a year.  The first was on Oct. 19, 2020, when a by-election was held to fill two vacancies left when two councillors resigned.

The third will be on Oct. 18 when the Municipal Election is held.  At that time residents will vote for six councillors and a mayor after council approved a bylaw to increase the size of council from its current size of four councillors and a mayor.

Polls will open at 10:00 am and close at 8:00 pm with the voting taking place at the Crossfield Community Centre.
