To date, the Calgary Stampede's overall attendance numbers are at 877,447* visitors. With a few more days left, there may be just enough time for attendance numbers to beat last year's.

The Stampede has already broken one record last week on opening day, Friday, July 7 when overall attendance was over 200 thousand visitors, not to mention a Guinness World Record for most pancakes served in eight hours on Sunday, July 9.

However, the 2022 overall Stampede attendance numbers sit at 1,216,859 visitors. However, 2019 numbers were at 1,275,465, which was the second-highest ever attendance. Thus far in 2023, the highest attendance in one day was this past Sunday - with 177,532 attendees. In order to tie the 2019 record, 398,018 more visitors would have to flock to the Stampede Grounds between today and Sunday

If one were to average the daily attendance up until yesterday, including sneak-a-peak on Thursday, July 6, it comes out to 125,350 visitors - so there is a definite possibility that 2023 may very well be one for the record books. However, it is unclear whether the smoky conditions will hamper attendance on Thursday and into the weekend.
