According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, much of Southern Alberta is under a snowfall warning.

Forecasts are predicting heavy snowfall, with anywhere from 10-20 cm accumulating over the next few days. 

While Airdrie and the surrounding areas are not under the snowfall warning, snow is forecast to start later on Friday. There may be upwards of 2 cm of snowfall on Friday afternoon, with another 2-4 cm predicted to fall this evening.

For those who have travel plans, motorists should expect for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop," Enivronment and Climate Change Canada stated.

There are also fog advisories in place for select regions in Alberta, including Airdrie.
