According to officials from Rocky View County, the fire that had broken out on Saturday evening had started beside the railway tracks and extended into a storage yard.

“This was located just west of the campground [Balzac Campground RV Park & Storage], on a property between the campground and the tracks,” wrote Angela Martin Senior Communications Advisor for Rocky View County.

Fire crews from the Balzac fire station responded with additional crews responding from Rocky View County, Irricana station, and the Crossfield Fire Department. Six units and approximately 20 personnel responded.

“The fire was contained quickly and it was fortunate that conditions were not windy at the time,” Martin added.

Rocky View County Fire Services has closed its investigation and the cause has been declared as indeterminant.
