Dozens upon dozens of parade floats made their way through the city, delighting spectators. This year's Parade Marshal was Airdrie athlete, Emily Vigneault. Vigneault participated in the Canada Winter Games several months ago and came home with a gold medal in the 60-kilogram female boxing division in Prince Edward Island.

Another new addition to the Canada Day Parade was the parade moose-cot, affectionately named Maple.

And for those who want to get into the spirit of the Wild West, residents can head down to the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds for the Airdrie Pro Rodeo at 2:30 p.m.

The city is encouraging residents to walk, cycle, and use ridesharing or e-scooters to get to the fireworks show, which will start at 10:45 p.m. or at dusk (whichever comes first).

"City of Airdrie Transit will offer a free bus ride as part of their shuttle service. Residents can park and ride at the South Transit Terminal, 2985 Main Street South," The City stated.

Beginning at 8 p.m., certain areas of Chinook Winds Park, including the skate park, spray park, and upper parking lot will be closed off for public access.

Parking for the fireworks show in the evening will be offered at the Croxford High School Parking Lot, the Rocky View Schools Parking Lot as well as the Chinook Winds Regional Park East Parking Lot.

Other towns and cities in the area are also celebrating Canada Day, including Crossfield which is hosting SavageFest - a two-day music festival event. Savagefest is unique in that the festival showcases eight locally diverse bands from the area, while also aiming to raise awareness in the community about the Homes For Heroes Foundation, by hosting local veterans as well as those currently serving Canadian Armed Forces. The aim is to also raise donations for Calgary Veterans Village. Tickets can be bought at the Crossfield Rodeo Grounds Entry Gate (Crossfield Pete Knight Days).

The Town of Irricana has announced that on Canada Day, the evening celebrations will include a family and free event beginning at 7 p.m. till 10 p.m. which will include a live DJ at the Lions Community Hall. Children will also have their chance to get face painting done at the hall. A fireworks display is planned for 10:30 p.m., though the town underlined it is dependent on the weather.
