The City of Airdrie has announced that as part of Canada Day celebrations on July 1,  Kyle McKearney and the band Nice Horse will be at Nose Creek Regional Park.

The free music concert is set to take place at the Nose Creek Regional Park amphitheatre after the Canada Day Parade from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a beverage garden and food trucks at the park, and residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the show.

“We are thrilled that we are able to feature top Canadian talent who have strong connections to Airdrie. I’d like to thank the Department of Canadian Heritage, Government of Canada, for their funding support and our many community partners for their work to create what will be an unforgettable celebration,” said Mayor Peter Brown.

And for those who want to get into the spirit of the Wild West, residents can head down to the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds for the Airdrie Pro Rodeo at 2:30 p.m.

Apart from the annual Canada Day Parade which is being hosted by Airdrie Parades at 10 a.m. and running until noon, there are also a series of new events the city has announced.

"The day begins with Elder Virgle Stephens’ blessings at the Canada Day pancake breakfast (8:00 a.m. till 10 a.m.) in the Safeway parking lot," The City stated in a press release. "Residents can also expect the biggest fireworks show yet at Chinook Winds Regional Park."

The city added that walking, cycling, ridesharing and using e-scooters to get to the fireworks show. The fireworks commence at 10:45 p.m. and are slated to last for approximately 20 minutes. However, residents can come as early as 8 p.m. to the park to enjoy music and dancing. 

"City of Airdrie Transit will offer a free bus ride as part of their shuttle service. Residents can park and ride at the South Transit Terminal, 2985 Main Street South." 

Parking for the Canada Day Parade and concert will be offered at Nose Creek Regional Park as well as the Off-Leash Dog Park at Nose Creek Regional Park, AE Bowers School Parking Lot, and the Murial Clayton School Parking Lot.

Parking for the fireworks show in the evening will be offered at the Croxford High School Parking Lot, the Rocky View Schools Parking Lot as well as the Chinook Winds Regional Park East Parking Lot.
