If you ever wanted to see Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown take a pie to the face, you will enjoy this.

Over the past month, local business Airdrie Family Eye Doctors set a goal of trying to fundraise for the Airdrie Food Bank. For every $100 they received they would pie one of their team members, let's just say many members got a pie to the face.

For a $20 donation, you could vote on who gets the pie and this is where Mayor Peter Brown came into play.

To encourage even more people to donate, Brown stated he would take a pie to the face if Airdronians donated $1000 voting for him.

That goal eventually was met as Airdronians donated around $4500 was donated in his name.

In total, around $6500 was raised for the Airdrie Food Bank.

Heather Cowie, the owner of Airdrie Family Eye Doctors stated it's all about helping the community.

"We thought we would have one or two pies, not dozens coming in. It's a great reminder of the incredible businesses and people that we have in Airdrie that are here to care for each other. I'm just so proud of the community that we work and live in."

Mayor Brown stated he is more than willing to do what is needed to help the Airdrie community out even if it means he ends up pie-faced.
