When Premier Jason Kenney announced that stronger measures would start for Albertans, he said they'd stay in place until at least January 21, 2021. People are wondering if those measures will be relaxed during today's COVID-19 update. While some are hoping to see business able to reopen, yesterday Doctor Denna Hinshaw didn't really indicate that would be the case. "It's very encouraging to see our positivity rate steadily declining since the peak in December," Hinshaw said at the news conference.

While encouraging Hinshaw said she believes it's because of the measures we are seeing the decline in cases, "I would say that the data that we have indicates that the restrictions put in place in November and December have achieved, so far, their intended outcome." Leading some to believe we won't see any of those restrictions relaxed today or tomorrow as she went on to say that the province maintains those restrictions if they want to see those numbers continue to decline. 'We need to build on our collective success by going slowly toward allowing some additional activities and not experiencing a rebound if we open too quickly."

You'll be able to find out if any of those restrictions are relaxed when the update starts. At that time, a live video of the press conference will be displayed below.

It was announced in November that enhanced restrictions would go into effect for Albertans and on January 7, 2021, officials announced those measures would remain in place.
