From all appearances, the North Division semi final in the Heritage Junior Hockey League between the Airdrie Thunder and Red Deer Vipers is going to be a long one.

The Vipers knotted the series at two games apiece last night with a 3 - 2 win in Red Deer.

The fifth game is scheduled for Tuesday night at 8:00 pm at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Down 3 - 0 late in the third period, the Thunder staged a comeback that, in the end, fell just short.

Jared Bainbridge got them on the scoreboard at 17:43 on the third before Clay Murray scored unassisted with only 37 seconds remaining.  That was as close as the Thunder got.

Things are not so tight in the South Division semi final between the Cochrane Generals and Banff Academy Bears.

Chad Harrison led the way with two goals and two assists and Ryan Simpson picked up the shutout in a 7 - 0 Cochrane win.

The Generals can wrap up the series this afternoon at 2:30 when the teams meet in Banff.

So far, in three games of the series, Cochrane has outscored the Bears 27 to one.
