One man had to be taken by ambulance to hospital in Calgary with critical, life-threatening injuries, January 29, after he lost control of the pick-up truck he was driving northbound on Highway 2 and crossed into the southbound lanes, colliding with a semi tractor trailer. The collision happened just after 10:30 am, approximately two kilometers south of the Crossfield overpass.

Cpl. Darrin Turnbull with the Airdrie RCMP says poor weather conditions could be to blame for the collision.

Traffic on the highway quickly started to back up as emergency crews and investigators continue to need time to work. Turnbull says motorists can expect delays to last for a few hours.

The driver of the pick-up was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Turnbull says injuries to the driver of the semi were minor.
