Two Airdrie residents have been charged with several offences following a search warrant that was executed at a residence in Airdrie's southwest last week.

"During the search of the residence, members of Airdrie’s Crime Reduction Unit found a handgun, cocaine, fentanyl, and cash," police stated in a news release on Tuesday morning. 

According to police, 20-year-old Nathan Appiah Dwumaah was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on $250 cash bail with conditions.

He has been charged with:

  • Possession of a restricted firearm without a license
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to an order
  • Possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking

He is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie later this week, on Thursday. Apart from Dwumaah, 18-year-old Rahma Shafei was also brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on a $500 Promise to Pay with conditions.

He has been charged with :

  • Possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking

He is also scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on April 18.

Last week, Airdrie Mounties alerted residents to a large police that was occurring in the city's southwest. According to previous police reports, Airdrie RCMP, along with the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant.
