Members of the Airdrie Sky High Twirlers are in Europe, getting ready for the International Twirlers Cup which begins tomorrow (August 7).

Twirlers Miyah Kailey and Mikayla McDonald are part of the team taking part in the competition, and shared their thoughts on the upcoming meet.

McDonald said ahead of the competition, she is feeling nervously excited.

"It's kind of nerve-wracking. I mean, I've been to one before, but it's different this time since it's actually out of the country and it's in Europe. It'll be my first time going to Europe, so it will definitely be different from the first time."

Kailey felt well prepared for the International Cup, thanks in part to the other competitions they've been a part of this year.

"The progression of the different competitions and how they're slowly getting more competitive the more we get closer towards the International Cup, I think really helps us prepare for that."

McDonald explained what she would consider a successful competition.

"I think one of the main goals is having a no-drop routine. That's super important and that's something that our coach really tries to help us get towards in all of our routines."

Kailey said it would be extremely satisfying to finish the season on a high note.

"It will mean a lot to me, because it's such a big competition and we've spent all year working towards this specific competition, so if I do really well it will feel like all of my hard work paid off."

The International Cup is being held in Porec, Croatia. It will run from August 7 to 13.
