The 16th annual Cochrane Classic Bull Riding is coming up, bringing with it some of the toughest cowboys around.

The event is Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) sanctioned and all the money the riders make at the Classic Bull Riding event count towards the Canadian Finals Rodeo and National Finals Rodeo.

Jason Borton, event organizer, says some of the most elite bull riders will compete in the rodeo.

"We're bringing the top 30 bull riders in Canada and the United States into Cochrane. A lot of the same guys that were riding at Calgary Stampede will be riding at this event, the same bucking bulls will be there."

Borton explains it's a privilege to have these athletes and bulls come to Cochrane; an experience not many towns get.

"It's pretty awesome that we get to have this caliber of athletes and bulls coming to Cochrane. Not everybody gets to see this kind of competition. The biggest thing is going to be how well these guys will be riding there. There's going to be some really big scores. It will really highlight bull riding that night, so I think everybody will really enjoy the action."

Tickets for the event on Saturday, August 6, are available at Dry Cleaning by Dave in Cochrane, Tony's Western Wear in Cochrane, and at the gate.
