Before they can compete for a Heritage Junior Hockey League title, the Airdrie Thunder will need to see who can crack their final roster.

The Junior B Hockey team begin their main camp tonight (September 1st) at the Ron Ebessen Arena and Head Coach Derek Stamp explains what his staff are looking for this year.

"We're looking for competition I guess...we're eager to evaluate everybody: players from last year, potential players coming in to play for the Thunder this year."

Stamp also says it's bound to be a busy pre-season for the team.

"Especially this first weekend, getting a sense of what we have within our core. What we have for new players interested in trying out for the Thunder and then we'll move forward from there."

The camp runs throughout the weekend culminating in the Red and White game on Labour Day at 4pm.

Airdrie begin their exhibition play on September 8th against High River and host Blackfalds to start the Regular Season on September 22nd.
