An alumnus of Geoge McDougall High School has become the third Airdrie player to sign with the Olds College Broncos women's volleyball team.

5 foot 8 inch outside hitter Morgan Pickard becomes one of 10 new recruits who'll join seven returning veterans for the upcoming season.  30 percent of those recruits are from Airdrie.  Natalya Hauser and Kayley Lloyd also signed on with the club.

Pickard played last season with the Mustangs and was also a member of the Rebels Volleyball Club.  With the Mustangs in 2016, Pickard won the Athletic Spirit Award for junior varsity girls.  Last season she was chosen the Heart and Desire Award winner for the senior girl's squad.  She was a member of the Academics Honour Roll in grades 9 through 11.

Pickard says of the chance to be a member of the Broncos, "Attending Olds College gives me the opportunity to pursue a program that I am passionate about while allowing me to hone my volleyball skills at a collegiate level."

Pickard's academic program at the college is Veterinary Medical Receptionist.

Broncos Head Coach Ryan Marsden's analysis of Pickard's ability is that she is a very strong and powerful outside hitter who has a great desire to learn more and is not scared to put in the work to become an impact player.  He also says she is extremely positive and uplifting to her teammates.
