Snow is melting, the people are stirring and the sun is shining.

The question is now that spring feels like it's sprung in Airdrie, will it be sticking around? The answer is yes, for this week says Meteorologist Kyle Fougere with Environment and Climate Change Canada,

"We're expecting to be above normal this week, into the weekend as well. A normal daytime high for this time of year is a high of around of plus  one and an overnight low of minus twelve, so quite a bit above normal now."

He goes on to say we are expecting a low-pressure system to come through so next week we will see more normal conditions.

Fougere agrees with Balzac Billy and says we will see more winter before the real spring hits,

"It's unlikely that we're done with the winter weather. March and April tend to be the snowiest months of the year around the Calgary area and so were still likely to see some cold snaps and to see some snow over the next couple of months."

So don't put those winter clothes away or switch out those snow tires yet.

"The cold air has retreated to the north but it hasn't gone that far."

All it will take is a strong low-pressure system that goes through and pulls all that air down from the north we will see the variability Alberta is known for.

"We do tend to see a lot of variability this time of year so it's not uncommon to see temperatures swing pretty wildly from above-average one day to below average for several days shortly after, so that's kinda what you should expect in Alberta."

He also says people who have lived here long enough have probably had May long weekend plans ruined by the snow so it's very unlikely we are done but we should all get out and enjoy the warm temperatures while we can this weekend.
