The City of Airdrie’s Municipal Enforcement (AME) has teamed up with the RCMP to challenge the Airdrie Fire Department and Alberta Health Services EMS in a friendly competition dubbed Sirens Lip Sync Showdown: Battle for Airdrie.
And so it begins.....
Over the next three months, the two teams will challenge each other by supporting great causes in the Airdrie community. The winner of the challenge will choose a song for the remaining team to lip-sync in a music video.
“We just think this is a great way to not only get out and engage the community but to support the needs of residents as well,” says AME Team Lead, Lynn MacKenzie. “All while having a bit of fun and making it exciting for the people of Airdrie.”
Each month there will be a new competition supporting a different cause. For November, the two teams will be collecting toys as part of Airdrie Lioness Hamper Foundation’s Christmas Hamper program. A toy donation will gain you free entry into a hockey game between the two teams at Ron Ebbesen Arena on the night of Nov. 24.
Throughout the month of December, the teams will challenge each other to see who can collect the most food donations for the Airdrie Food Bank. There will be opportunities to donate when the CP Holiday Train makes its stop here and during the Santa Claus Parade.
During the final month of the Showdown, the two teams will be challenging the community to support Canadian Blood Services by donating blood during two clinics being held in Airdrie as part of their Sirens for Life campaign.
Details on how people can support each team will be communicated via social media and various announcements throughout the Showdown months. Bins for collecting donations will be set up in various locations throughout the City.
