It's been a while since the Airdrie Irish last the field, but that doesn't mean they're not working hard.
The Football team recently held their Annual Awards Banquet, where several players were honoured by their peers including club President Matt Squires.
Squires was award the 2016 Irish Pride Award, which honours a member who gives back to the team.
"I know how much time I put into the team and I do it because I love the team, but it's always good to be recognized."
Along with Squires was Linebacker Gunnar Godhe who was named Most Valuable Player.
"If Gunnar's not in the game, it's definitely noticed," says Squires, "He's one of those guys where if one of our Offensive Lineman were to go down, he'd jump on that side, he jumps into every Special Teams because it's what needs to be done to win the game."

The Irish are gearing up for another busy off season as to improve on their first two years in the Alberta Football League.
The club recently unveiled their new Helmet and Jerseys which Squires hopes can attract more players and fans.
