The Airdrie Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is looking for their recently stolen memorial garden bench.

The bench usually sits out front on the lawn where veterans would frequently sit outside in the summer and enjoy each other's company.

Bill Drummond, First Vice President of the Airdrie Legion Branch 288 stated what he thinks happened to it.

"A short time ago, the bench disappeared. Being an ex-military policeman, it was obviously stolen by at least two people and a vehicle."

Drummond who has a bench almost exactly like the one that has gone missing stated he needs at least two people to help him move his in the summer.

"We're quite upset that somebody would go to the length of stealing something that was enjoyed by veterans."

Drummond has high hopes that the bench will be returned or it will turn up so they can have it back.

"If it turns up in your neighbourhood somewhere, tell us and we'll come back and reclaim it."

If it's not returned by summertime, Drummond stated they will look into having it replaced because it is used quite often.

This Sunday, the Airdrie Legion is hosting a Super Bowl party where anybody can gather at the legion, and enjoy the company of local veterans while watching the big game, they will be selling chilli and a bun to help fundraise for future events.
