The Airdrie Storm traveled to Sherwood Park and came back with more than just their equipment.

The Peewee Football team won the Tier II Alberta Championship after beating the Edmonton Chargers 54-22.

"It was pretty exciting for the kids, it was the first road trip for a lot of them in any sport," said Head Coach Nolan Rohl.

Rohl said the team set the pace within the first 30 seconds and never looked back.

"There was a lot of nervousness until the first offensive play went off...21 seconds into the game and we're up 8-0."

The last time the Storm won a Provincial Championship was back in 2006 when they competed in Tier III.
