The Airdrie Sting U12B ringette team came close to winning their fifth tournament of the year over the weekend but fell just short.

The Sting were defeated 9-2 by the Buffalo Plains Charge in the gold medal game at the Esso Golden Ring tournament in Calgary, January 18. The Airdrie team had lost to the Charge during the round robin as well and knew they'd be a challenge in the final.

The Sting had gone 2 and 1 in the round robin, defeating the Edmonton Sonic and Calgary NW Trouble, before falling to the Charge.

The team now returns to league play with their next game, January 25, against the Bowview Riot in Calgary.
