With last Sunday being the first official day of spring, it was only fitting for Alberta to get another snowfall. Although most, if not all of that snow is gone with the recent warm temperatures, we might be getting more.

Sara Hoffman, a Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada talks about what we can expect to see in the near future.

“Very spring-like weather, those sharp changes so either well above normal or well below normal, rain, snow, gusty conditions. You might get melting during the day and refreezing overnight from the snow that melted, causing some slip conditions.”

Hoffman says this is a pretty common thing for this time of year.

“Snow is still definitely around. We have snow in the forecast for Thursday, we have a very active cold front coming through the area. I would expect some accumulating snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and then some snow and rain on the weekend too.”

The normal daytime high for this time of year is five degrees celsius, looking at today and tomorrow, we have highs of 17 and 18 degrees.

“For the Environment Canada temperature forecast for the spring, which would be March, April and May. We're looking at a forecast of below normal temperatures for this season.”

Hoffman finished off by saying especially with Airdrie and the higher elevation means that temperatures can be just that touch cold enough that they can get snow at those times a year where you would typically think they wouldn't like June, July and August.
