At the start of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL) season, things looked promising for the Junior Ladies Rockyview Silvertips.

On paper, the team looked as though they would be able to challenge the clubs in the upper echelon of the RMLL. Things quickly came crashing down in a season plagued by injuries and disappointments.

Team Manager Heather Greenan said the club had high hopes going into the season but ran into a rash of injuries, including a head injury suffered by team captain Jamie Betterton that put an end to her lacrosse career.

Greenan said of the 23 players on the Silvertips roster, only three managed to make it to every game.

The team finished with a record of five wins and 11 losses in fifth place.

Despite missing the playoffs, Greenan does see hope ahead for the 'Tips.  She said the team had a dedicated crop of rookies this season who were thrown into the fire early and stepped up to the challenge admirably and often were forced to play five short in the lineup.

This year, the Silvertips finished with the fewest penalty minutes in the league after having the most last season which she said points to growth and maturity.

Greenan said the foundation is there and she's looking forward to building on it next season.
