Rocky View Schools (RVS) has named a new Director of Instructional Leadership, with the appointment taking effect on August 16th.

Superintendent of Schools Greg Luterbach announced the appointment of Sharon Cronin to the post this week.

In a Media Release, Luterbach said Cronin is known for making a difference in the lives of students.

“Her focus on leadership and dedication to instructional practices will ensure RVS continues to deliver teaching that best serves all our learners as we continue to implement our 2019-2023 Four-Year Plan."

Cronin began her time with RVS in 1991 when she started as a teacher at Springbank Middle School.  In the three decades since that time she has also been a teacher, assistant principal and principal at Banded Peak School, École Edwards Elementary School in Airdrie and RancheView School in Cochrane, where she's been since March 2016.

Cronin holds a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Calgary and completed her Bachelor of Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts, at Saint Thomas University in Fredericton.

Her new role will have Cronin leading aspects of the Four-Year Plan related to teaching and learning with a focus on literacy, numeracy and helping schools bring the goals of the plan to life.

RVS Board Chair Fiona Gilbert added her congratulations to Cronin on behalf of the Board of Trustees, saying,  “We look forward to her continued leadership and positive impact on student learning in RVS.”
