Canmore Mayor Ron Casey was up against four other candidates running to secure the PC Nomination in the Banff / Cochrane riding, including Cochrane Mayor Truper McBride. On "Super Saturday", January 28, Casey was able to defeat all four of his opponents to win the nomination.

Casey has lived in Canmore with his family for the past 37 years and has been Mayor since 2004.

When declaring his candidacy earlier in the month, Casey cited the new energy brought to the party by new Premier Alison Redford as one of the main motivating factors for getting into the race. He said then that he planned to focus on similar issues.

McBride in a post election Tweet, encouraged his supporters to throw their support behind Casey in the next Provincial election.
