A 56-year-old man from Drumheller has been charged with a slew of offences stemming from an alleged road rage incident in Beiseker. The altercation sent one man in his 80's to the hospital.

Police said that on Friday, around 8 a.m. a man came into the Beiseker RCMP detachment advising that he was just involved in a physical altercation with another male at the Centex gas station and he may have injured him.

"Officers attended the Centex gas station and located an 80-year-old victim with serious injuries. EMS was called and STARS  was used to transport the male to the hospital where he remains stable."

Police said that thus far the investigation indicates that the assault was the result of a road rage incident that occurred on the Highway. After the assault, the suspect broke the victim's vehicle window and stole his vehicle keys.

Chris Shearer is charged with Aggravated assault, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Robbery, and Mischief.

Shearer was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for February 1, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie.

Earlier on Friday morning, STARS air ambulance tweeted that they had been dispatched to an emergency call in the Beiseker area, but did not give further details.
