City Council has heard concerns from residents recently about the stretch of 24th Street between Yankee Valley Boulevard and Sagewood. Over the past few years, the volume of traffic utilizing this stretch of 24th Street has increased and, unfortunately, the oil/gravel mixture used to surface the road began to fail last spring. To extend the life of the road, repair work was completed this summer and a road ban limiting heavy truck traffic was also placed along this stretch of roadway.

Residents using this road have voiced a desire to see the road upgraded to asphalt, however, the City says that upgrading of roadways typically only occurs as development in an area ramps up. Preliminary road design is currently underway for the unpaved section of 24th street and City staff will be making a recommendation as part of the regular budgetary process. In the meantime, Public Works will continue to monitor the road and provide general maintenance.
