On Sunday afternoon, just after 3 p.m., Calaway Park took to social media, to state that due to a grassfire burning south of the amusement park, it would be initiating what it called an, 'accelerated close.'

An hour later, it updated its social media to state that the cause of the fire had been, a 'failure on a Fortis power pole', which started the grassfire.

"The fire has been extinguished. For safety, Calaway Park exercised an accelerated close."

It is unclear whether the amusement park will re-open on Sunday.

This is a developing story.
