The Airdrie Thunder welcome back a teammate just in time for playoff season.
Benjamin Orde last suited up with the Thunder on October 5, 2018. The 5'10, 160-pound defenseman is back in the lineup after taking a leave to start his electrical apprenticeship in Fort McMurray.
He says leaving the ice was not easy.
"It was definitely a tough decision, but at some point, work starts to come first. It was something I couldn't turn down."
Orde is now back and excited to join the Thunder as they continue to power through the season, this time in the playoffs.
"I've been missing it a lot lately. The last two or three weeks, I've been missing playing hockey and being with the fellas. Now I couldn't be more excited!" he said.
The league-leading Airdrie Thunder are enjoying a restful break and will likely face the winner of the Stettler Lightning/Blackfalds Wranglers series.
