Airdrie's Zac Giroux and the AJHL Lloydminster Bobcats are heading to the RBC Cup semi-finals.

The tournament host Bobcats will be taking on the Trenton Golden Hawks Saturday May 21, with hopes of advancing to the finals.

"Is been fun, and the guys are confident going into this so it makes it easier individually when the team is playing a team game." said Giroux.

Last time the two teams squared off was in the preliminary stages of the tournament, where the Golden Hawks took the win 4-1.

Giroux attributes the loss to a slow start and too many penalty minutes.

"Thats' been the story of our whole tournament. We start really poorly, let in two or three and then we're fighting back the rest of the game."

Giroux completed the regular season with 33 points in 56 games played.

Winner of this game will go on to face either the Brooks Bandits or the West Kelowna Warriors in the finals.

The semi finals take place on Saturday, May 21st with puck drop at 2:30.
