Another sizeable business has announced its plans to move to Airdrie. Mirolin Industries Corp. will invest millions customizing a facility in the city's East Lake Industrial park, potentially employing dozens when production begins in the spring of 2012. Kent Rupert, in Economic Development with the City, is excited about this key addition to Airdrie's industrial base.

Rupert says Airdrie is starting to see more companies moving from the east in recognition of what western markets offer. Mirolin Industries will be a stand-alone plant in our city serving western Canada. The company currently manufactures bathtub, shower and ‘whirlpool’ jetted tubs at a facility in Toronto.

Robert Bartucci, Mirolin’s vice president of sales and marketing, says “we will employ to the demand level. I expect the demand to grow rapidly.”

Plans to expand began two-and-a-half years ago, and the company has been scouting for a site for the past eight months. “Airdrie was identified from the outset as an ideal location,” said Bartucci.

The Airdrie plant will be located at 705 East Lake Road.
