In their first home games of the year last night (December 13), the George McDougall Mustangs and the Bert Church Chargers mostly found success in another thrilling evening of boys basketball.

The night started off with a thrilling match in the Mustang Corral between the Junior Mustangs and Cavaliers.

With less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter and the score close, the Mustangs got sent to the line and made one free throw to take a one point lead. Going down to the other end of the court, the Cavs were fouled and tied the game with one made free throw. George Mac made a basket with twelve seconds left to take a two point lead, and took the win when the Cavs missed a last second shot. With the 69-67 win, the Mustangs improved their record to 1-1. The Junior Cavs also sit at at 1-1 record.

In the senior game, the Mustangs became the first team to break one hundred points this season in Rocky View.

In their first home game of the season, the Mustangs held off the Cavs, finishing the first quarter 26-18. Things only got better from there, with the Mustangs annihilating the Cavs 108-84. The Mustangs now sit 1-1 on the season, while Croxford continue to look for their first win of the season after back to back losses.

 

Springbank Phoenix at Bert Church Chargers

The Senior Bert Church Chargers are now tied for first place in the division after a close win against the Springbank Phoenix.

The Chargers pulled off a five point victory, putting the game away 95-90. Coach Michael Sera was happy with the win, saying it was a good tune up for the Bert Church Invitational tournament which starts today.

The Junior Chargers were the only Airdrie team not to win in their own gym. The Chargers fell to the Phoenix 61-35.
