A 49-year-old Didsbury man who was an employee at a residential care facility in the town was arrested and charged with assault after Didsbury Mounties received a report regarding alleged physical abuse.

Didsbury RCMP received the report earlier this week on, Tuesday, November 7.

”Upon further investigation, it was determined the 87-year-old victim had been physically assaulted by a care worker at the facility between September 2021 and August 2022,” police stated in a release.

As a result of the information obtained by police, on November 8, Maximino Garcia was arrested and charged with assault.

Garcia was released from police custody by a Justice of the Peace on several conditions to ensure the safety of the victim.  Garcia is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on November 20.
