One individual was left with minor injuries after Didsbury RCMP was called to a single motor vehicle collision on Monday afternoon.

According to police, at approximately 4 p.m., RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle collision at 2033 19 Avenue in downtown Didsbury.

"When EMS, police, and fire arrived on the scene, they found a blue Volkswagen Golf had smashed through the front window of the Town’s library. The 80-year-old driver was uninjured but was ticketed for traffic offences. One of the workers inside the building received minor injuries. No one else was injured," a police press release stated.

The extent of the damage is unknown at this time.

The window of the library has been boarded up and the library will remain closed until further notice. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision. No further updates will be provided.
