The families of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash victims continue to advocate for mandatory seatbelts on buses and Michelle and Tom Straschnitzki are bringing that fight to Airdrie.

When Tom and Michelle found out that their younger son Jett would be boarding an Airdrie Minor Hockey Association bus without seatbelts they contact the AMHA.

Tom says once he brought it to their attention they made the changes quickly.

"They got on it within a day and got buses with seatbelts so we felt pretty safe then and we knew Jett was going to get a three-point not just a lap belt and once Jet found that out he was okay with it and would take the bus with his team, he was a little leery but he did it."

The Straschnitzki's are hoping that bus companies and other carriers will make the changes soon and not just brush it off until the mandatory date.

"Its ridiculous the responses you get from politicians and the bus companies."

Tom also says that it's not just him and Michelle advocating for mandatory belts, but all of the families.

"I think all 29 families are really pushing for it so you have Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta"
