The recent Alberta Summer Games in Leduc were a success for several athletes with the Canadian Badlands Aquatic Club.

The club, which trains at Genesis Place in Airdrie, sent 6 athletes to the games, participating with Zone 2.

Two of the athletes came away with medals at the games including Sarah Schmick with a gold medal in the 50 metre Freestyle and 5 silver medals.

Her teammate Jackson Zubach won 6 medals of his own, including 4 silvers in the 100 and 200 metre backstroke and the 200 and 400 metre individual medley.

Zubach also won two bronze in the 50 metre backstroke and 200 metre free relay.

Many of the swimmers also beat their personal bests at the games and won the Team Spirit Award.

The Badlands Aquatic Club is now gearing up for the upcoming Canadian Age Group Championships in Calgary.

That meet starts on Thursday, July 27, at the Talisman Centre in Calgary.
