The Airdrie Raiders put it all on the field last night (April 6th) and nearly came away with the victory.

The local Midget Football team played hard against the Mavericks but fell 25-17 in Calgary.

"It went pretty well for us, aside from the end result," says Raiders Head Coach Steve Kemp, "That's one of the better teams in the league and we were able to outplay them for about 3 quarters and we just kinda ran out of gas in the 4th quarter."

It was the second straight loss for the Raiders, who dropped their season opener last week to the defending Champions the Cowboys. Coach Kemp says it's tough to lose two straight, but the team is building.

"Ideally, you'd like to come out with two wins or at least a split on those. We kind of put ourselves behind the eight ball a bit here but I thought we showed pretty well last night."

The boys will take on the Broncos on April 13th at McMahon Stadium, looking for their first win.
