The George McDougall Mustangs and Cochrane Cobras ended up in the same place as last year, while vying for the Rocky View Sports Association (RVSA) Football Championship.

Also, just like last season the Mustangs beat the Cochrane Cobras to claim the championship title, winning with a score of 36-5.

Head Coach Chris Glass couldn't be any happier with how his team played today.

"From the first game against Holy Rosary, this was our goal to win an RVSA Championship and now it's on to a provincial championship. I'm just so excited for these guys and the work they put in the effort they had."

While the score might not have shown it, it was a close game until the third quarter when the Mustangs pulled away.

"They're a good team. They're well-coached. Our guys just keep going and going, they're so determined and that's what counts. They just never stopped fighting."

While winning this championship was the first goal of the season for the Mustangs, they now move onto provincial play as they look forward and try to win a Tier One Provincial Championship.

"Right now we just got to win the game in front of us and take it week by week Right? I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, we got a tough opponent next game."

The Mustang's first matchup in Tier One Provincials is against their old rivals the Foothills Falcons.

The game is on the road next Saturday night, as they'll visit the Falcons in the South Central Zone Final.
