Just one week into the new season and a member of the Airdrie Thunder is already being recognized.

Jacob Macdonald was named Player of the Week by the Heritage Juniour Hockey League after leading the Thunder to a 2-0 record on opening weekend.

Macdonald scored two goals on Friday in their season opener against the Blackfalds Wranglers , including the game winner in a 4-1 win.

The next day in Three Hills, Macdonald continued the scoring magic with two more goals and another game winner in a 5-2 victory against the Thrashers.

With the four goals already under his belt, Macdonald is on his way to exceeding his season high tally with the Thunder.

Last season Macdonald scored just 8 goals in 35 games played with the team.

The Thunder look to keep their perfect record alive when they host the Cochrane Generals this Friday (September 29th).
