A couple local cowboys made their presence known on Day 1 of the Canadian Finals Rodeo last night (November 8) in Edmonton.

Kyle Lucas of Carstairs competed in Tie Down Roping and scored a time of 7.8 seconds. That put Lucas in a three way tie for second place with Stetson Vest and Tyson Durfey.

One of the biggest performances of the night came from Irricana native Luke Ferber, who won the Boys Steer Riding competition on Day 1. Ferber rode to a score of 84.50, claiming $1,000 in winnings.

Airdrie's Jake Vold will be on the rodeo grounds for Day 2 tonight in the Bareback Riding event, while Tanner, Baillie and Straw Milan of Cochrane are in Steer Wrestling.
