Local barrel racer Logan Berreth is racing her way through the amateur rodeo circuit.

The 17-year-old hopes that her riding can bring her to the semi-professional circuit for next year.

"I've been on probably a different horse every year that I've done it, but I found a horse that I really connected with so things are going really well right now." said Berreth.

It has taken some time to adjust to her new horse, but Berreth has started to find her stride, finishing 9th out of more than 50 ladies at the Tees Rodeo.

One of the biggest challenges moving forward is the cost of semi-professional competition, as Berreth is currently seeking sponsors. Between higher entry fees, transportation, and the cost of keeping her horse in the best possible shape, things can get pretty expensive.

To date, Berreth has been fortunate to have the support of her family both financially and competitively.

Life on the rodeo circuit can cost a lot more than just money for a 17-year-old competitor.

"It's definitely been hard, I know that when people want to hang out or see you, that sometimes you cant always see them cause you're so busy going down the road and making sure you have every thing you need for the weekend," said Berreth. "It's pretty busy, but I've learned to kinda just roll with things."

Berreth will compete in the CARA Finals Rodeo from August 20th-21st.
