Two Lacrosse players from Airdrie and one from Cochrane are overjoyed today after winning the Gold Medal at the National Midget Lacrosse Championships today (August 18th).

Airdrie's Cade Rotter was the goaltender for Alberta, who beat Ontario 7-2 to win its second straight title. Rotter says the final seconds of the game were a complete blur until the buzzer sounded and the team embraced him.

"It didn't feel real. It felt like a dream. It happened last year but this year it didn't feel real."

Rotter along with fellow Airdronian Sean Kriwokon and Cochrane's Nathan Lam represent the Rocky View Rage Lacrosse teams. For all of them, this championship boosts their careers and a chance to move on.

"It's great but we got to keep working hard and going into junior. Nothing changes for us," says Lam, "All the Junior A scouts will want us. They all love hearing that we're National Champions, they all want us." adds Rotter.

Lam and Rotter agree that winning the championship was not only great for their careers but the communities they represent.

"I wear that title with pride. It's awesome to bring that back to a city like Airdrie." says Rotter, "To represent your community and something bigger than not only Cochrane but just Alberta. Not only Airdrie, not only Cochrane but Alberta as a whole", adds Lam.

For Kriwokon, the experience was so overwhelming, there was only one way for him to describe it.

"It was great!."

The tournament was held at the Max Bell Arena in Calgary, which is also the scene for the Jr. A Championship the Minto Cup which wraps up on August
