Local football coach Chris Glass had the opportunity to watch live as a former player hoisted the Grey Cup on November 27.

"I ended up watching, unfortunately and fortunately at the same time, one of my former players hoist the Grey Cup," said Glass, "Jake Hardy plays special teams for the Ottawa RedBlacks, and he was successful winning his first ever Grey Cup."

Glass coached Hardy when he was a player with the Calgary Bulldogs.

Glass says that seeing a former player win at the highest level in Canadian football inspires him to push his players to their full potential.

"There's some kids that have come along through the Airdrie program that you think, you know one day this kid could actually make it to the CFL and could be playing one day. Now you have that story of knowing that that's actually possible."

Glass also says knowing he had a hand in Hardy's development as a player is also a little rewarding.

"When you see a kid like Jake, you know that they have the ability to get there, and knowing that you played a role in that development is extremely satisfying."
