The Town and Country Centre was packed for Airdrie Mayor's Leadership Prayer Breakfast on May 3.

The annual breakfast is held to inspire and help people connect with other community members. According to Mayor Peter Brown, it did just that.

"You have a nice breakfast, meet with friends, listen to some inspirational speakers, and then head home, knowing that you've donated some money to a local charity," he explains.

Funds raised this year will assist Airdrie's Meals on Wheels.

"They were there in attendance and we were able to showcase them and what they do every day. They've been around since the 80s."

The final amount raised is currently being calculated.

BrownThere was another great crowd at this year's breakfast.

Boardwalk Communities CEO Sam Kolias was this year's guest speaker.

"Sam shared a lot of his life, and how many people he's helped through his business and the hundreds of millions of dollars as far as providing affordable homes for people."

A youth speaker from the Airdrie Christian Academy also shared his story.

"When he started, they were helping homelessness in Calgary, and they were addressing a lot of different social issues. He really was talking about his new life's purpose of helping one another. It was truly inspirational."

Brown thanks everybody who came out, and can't wait to see them all next year.

Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the event.
