While a previous temporary lane closure on Main Street South finished over the weekend, which was meant to accommodate construction activities for the Library and Multi-use Facility, another road closure is slated beginning Tuesday.

Starting May 14 until Wednesday, May 22, Main Street South will experience another temporary lane closure to accommodate construction activities as part of the Stormwater System Rehabilitation project.

Then, from June 1 until the fall - October 1 - 24 Streeth North will experience a temporary road closure to accommodate the installation of a 2-lane undivided paved roadway.

Other road closures Airdrie residents should be aware of include:

  • A temporary pathway closure of Luxstone Boulevard. The closure will last till June 19 and is for a stormwater system rehabilitation project. 

  • A temporary alley closure will begin on Waterstone Gate lasts June 24, to accommodate the installation of an oil and grit separator.

For those travelling outside of Airdrie, northwards, construction work is continuing till the end of this month on the QEII near Carstairs. The bridge maintenance operations are impacting northbound and southbound QEII, and eastbound and westbound Highway 581.

According to 511, lane and shoulder closures will be in effect on Highway 581 with the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h.

"Flagpersons will be present as required. Lane closures will be in effect intermittently on the QEII, northbound and southbound, starting May 6; during overnight hours as follows: Monday to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.; Friday from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.; Saturday from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.; and Sunday from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Speed limits on the QEII will be reduced to 50 km/h with lane width restricted to 3.7 meters."

And east of Airdrie, road maintenance operations are taking place on Highway 791 between Highways 567 and 72, south of Kersey till June 3, during daylight hours.
