Eight ladies fastball teams will be stepping up to the plate to compete in the Airdrie Fastball League playoffs this weekend.

The games get underway on Saturday, July 22 at 9 am, with each team playing 3 games in hopes of making it to the final match at 3:00 pm between the top team in pool A and pool B.

Christy Kajmowicz, who plays for the Chargers, is heading into the playoffs in third place, playing 29 games since the beginning of May.

Kajmowicz says the nice thing about the Airdrie League is that the time commitment is only twice a week compared to the Calgary League which requires a 4 day a week commitment.

"When I moved out to Airdrie it was kind of nice, you can focus more on your family and still be able to play ball and have fun by just playing, not having practice in that kind of competitive nature of other leagues."

Each team has players ranging in age from 18 to 65, giving women of all ages the opportunity to get out and play ball.

The season will be wrapping up after the tournament, but Kajmowicz says that next season is just around the corner and there is always room for new players and potentially the start of new teams.
