The St. Martin de Porres senior girls basketball team finished the calendar year with a strong showing on the road.

Last night (December 18), the Kodiaks clawed their way to a close 52-46 win against the Lord Beaverbrook Lords in Calgary.

Head Coach Tammy Paulence said Kennedy Fay played a vital defensive and offensive role at key moments in the win. Liza Avila also showed defensive intensity and strong rebounding that contributed to scoring opportunities for the Kodiaks.

With the win, the Kodiaks improve their record to 2-1, leaving them tied for second in their division with the Diefenbaker Chiefs.

The Kodiaks will enjoy a break over Christmas, and return to the hardwood on January 9 to face the St. Gabriel Guardians.
