Something new is coming to the annual February Food Fest!

The second annual February Food Fest is coming to Crossfield near the end of the month.

le, it's meant to be thrown.

Cheryl Shae is the manager of the Crossfield Farmers Market and says the whole idea behind this first-ever Rutabaga Bowl through the food fest came from a different farmers market down in the States.

"I follow a lot of farmers markets online and there's a market down in New York that had done rutabaga curling. So, I thought, how can we borrow this idea and make it our own. That's when we came up with rutabaga bowling."

If you think bowling a veggie to knock stuff over sounds easier than the original game of bowling you're used to, Cheryl Shae says to think again...

"A rutabaga can be very unpredictable"

The rutabaga bowl will happen alongside February Food Fest, which will be at the Crossfield Community Centre. Crossfield Mayor Kim Harris will be in attendance and medals will be handed out to first, second, and third place.

Registration to compete in the first-ever Rutabaga Bowl will be on-site at the food fest.
