You won’t find them in the Dome, but you will find them chillin’ with Jarome in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

That’s a little Calgary area pop culture reference ceca 2004, for those who missed it.

It was the first time Iggy was nominated as a potential inductee. The former captain of the Calgary Flames led the team during the 2004 cup run where the team came up just shy of a Stanley Cup trophy; which any die-hard Flames fan will argue was a total robbery based on the controversial overturning of a goal.

Iginla played over 15 seasons with the Calgary Flames from 1996 – 2013. He led the team in scoring during 11 of those seasons. The Edmonton born and raised forward recorded 1,300 points in 1,554 NHL regular-season games in his career. He also was a member of Team Canada at three Olympic Games, winning gold medals in 2002 and 2010.

"This selection is hard to believe and makes me reflect and look back on my career," Iginla reflected. "I was always just trying to make the NHL and this recognition means a lot to me and my family."

Lanny McDonald, arguably the most infamous of former Calgary Flames players made the announcement.

"The Hockey Hall of Fame is proud to welcome these hockey legends as Honoured Members," said McDonald. "Their contributions to the game of hockey are well documented and their election to the Hockey Hall of Fame is richly deserved."

Iginla is joined by five others including the three-time Stanley Cup-winning Marian Hossa; six-time Stanley Cup champ Kevin Lowe, CWHL star Kim St. Pierre who has three Olympic gold medals and five World Women’s Championships Gold Medals; and Doug Wilson who led all team defencemen in scoring for 10 consecutive seasons. They are also joined by former Detroit Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland in the Builder category.

The 2020 Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Celebration is tentatively scheduled on Monday, November 16th in Toronto.
